How a Mini Facelift Is Performed

A mini facelift may be performed under general or local anesthesia with IV sedation, which can make recovery smoother.

Through carefully placed incisions around the ears, Dr. Weinfeld can tighten and reposition underlying tissues, often focusing on the SMAS layer. After he refines the jawline contour and redrapes the skin, he can close the incisions with small sutures.

Rather than using a cookie-cutter approach, Dr. Weinfeld evaluates skin laxity, facial support, jawline shape, volume loss, and neck anatomy before recommending the most appropriate technique. In some patients, a short-scar SMAS-based approach may be ideal. In others, deep plane principles or combination procedures may create a more balanced result.

Some bruising and swelling are expected initially, though they are well-tolerated with prescription medications or over-the-counter options.

Exercise and heavier activity are usually delayed until Dr. Weinfeld clears you, often around weeks four to six. Final refinement may continue over three to six months.
